Front tires won't spin freely when off ground? - GM-T.

The rear wheel will not spin freely anymore. When I spin the wheel with the bike turned upside down the wheel will turn approximately a single revolution and come to a complete stop. The front wheel turns freely for several revolutions before gradually stopping. I've checked the common causes and it doesn't match any of them. Just bought a used bike with 7 hours on it the suspension was redone by Devol and the owner put it back on himself. The front wheel only spins for about 1-2 seconds with a hard spin how can I fix this problem? Grease the axle? Take off the caliper and re-assemble the wheel? Any info would help to. Worth a quick look anyway, make sure the struts aren’t all the way up or down, but I doubt that’s the problem. The transmission may just be stuck in P for some reason. If the ideas above don’t pan out, take a look at the shifting linkage from the shifter to the transmission. This assumes you have an automatic.

Quick question for other R1200 owners. I have a 2007 GSA with ABS. When your bike is on the center stand in neutral should the rear wheel spin freely. When I bought my RS the suspension had been taken apart by the previous owner. When I got it back together the left front hub wouldn't turn after I tightened the axle nut. I thought I would need a new wheel bearing but I drove it around the block anyway. When I got back it had loosened up. Hub spins freely now, no noise.

Permalink Reply by David P. on August 8, 2016 at 10:30am. Leave the bike right-side up but elevate the rear wheel to unload it, then spin it to see if it spins normally or not. If it does, and the problem only exists with a loaded rear wheel, then normal riding loads are deforming the wheel. Joined. Feb 18, 2011. Messages. 4. Feb 18, 2011. #4. Re: Trailer wheel wont spin...PLEASE HELP!!!! Yep, this time the bearing on the axel is seized onto the axel shaft and you will have to replace the entire axel and get new bearings, and replace the brake drum. I had to replace a bad bearing when the bearing races had a worn set nut and came. ToyoLuv said: Perfectly normal. You're thinking about a rear wheel drive car. The car is front wheel drive. You will feel the resistance of the transmission when turning the wheel. Go spin the rear wheels and those will be as you're describing. Note this is a stick shift and it was out of gear at the time.

2. Chain Fell Off the Cassette / Chainring. A more common (and less catastrophic) occurrence that will prevent forward momentum is when your chain simply drops off either the rear cassette or the front chainring. It's easy to tell when this happens: your pedals will suddenly spin freely with absolutely no resistance.

Cassette won't spin when wheel is tightened. - Pinkbike Forum.

Jul 25, 2015. #1. Summary: Rotor/hub/caliper assembly spins fine, but when you put on the wheel and lug it down, it won't spin at all. Replaced rear brakes for a 2004 camry. Just decided to change out pads/rotors. Rotors were stuck on, had to use the little bolt holes to thread in bolts and push out the rotor. Time to change pads, pads came off. I could pedal through it, but I'm not a complete idiot. I walked it back to the drive way and started checking it out. The tire will not spin when the QR release is tightened even moderately. The cassette spins freely and smoothly. The wheel/hub spins fine when off the bike also. It only happens when I tighten the QR. Car: 1992 Chevy g20 van 5.7 regular duty brakes I just installed new wheel bearings, rotor, calipers and brake pads. I have not yet re-connected the brake line. My problem is that with the new calipers and brake pads mounted the rotor no longer spins freely. Looking down at the pads it seems that possibly the heel end, or the rear end of the inboard pad is dragging. I compressed the piston on.

2013 Chevrolet Spark - drivers side rear wheel won't spin freely.

WHENEVER I tighten the rear all the way down or even snug the rear wheel will not spin freely. I even gave the chain more slack, and adjusted the rear brake rod, even disconnected it and still I cnnot get it to spin freely. But then when I loosen the axle bolt up, it spins freely. I just do not understand. Is it a bad drum brake?.

Screws wont Unscrew but spin freely. RESOLVED.

Done a million brake jobs and first time I ever had this issue. Replaced calipers as well. Rear spin freely, front ones don't. Caliper pins and piston move freely. Rotor spins freely on both sides until wheel is torqued, then you can't spin them at all. Take wheel back of and the rotor spins freely. Spin the wheel to check if the wheel spins freely. Note that the rear wheel may have more drag and not spin as freely as the front wheel because of the motor. If the wheel does not spin freely, loosen the lockring and barrel adjuster a couple of turns counterclockwise, then tighten the lockring. Moving the front to the back and visa-versa. I noticed the back wheels, when off the ground, rotated freely. I would have thought, being AWD all the time, there should have been some 'gearing' stopping the wheel from rotating freely. It did it on both back wheels so trying to understand why the wheels rotated freely on the back but not the front.

There is a problem with the rear brakes on my car. Even with the following done, it still will not spin on its own: car jacked up, E brake released, wheels off, brake pads replaced, and caliper piston pushed back (not screwed back). I put the wheels back on and lowered the car, shifted into drive, pressed on the gas pedal and the car's rear.

With the driver's side wheel in the air, you should not be able to 'wiggle' the wheel without moving the entire truck. If there's play, the bearing is shot. Also, that grease sound sounds like another indicator that things are moving where they shouldn't be. Pugga, Jul 27, 2011 #4 Jul 27, 2011 at 10:23 AM # 5 kingston73 [OP] Well-Known Member. Prying didn't help. Prying and hitting the side popped it loose and it moved back into position with no further problems. Wheel is spinning freely as it should. Rode it a bit (trying to find a place that had a replacement screw for the brake reservoir, found one!), everything seems ok now.

Pushrod on May 02, 2018. If 4x4 is ‘disengaged’ - front wheel should spin freely with only one wheel jacked up.. With only one *rear wheel* jacked off of the ground then NO - that’s what hold the vehicle in place while parked. With transmission shifted into neutral - each rear wheel can be turned. New brake pads - wheel won't spin freely - ApriliaForum.

When spun as hard as possible, the rear wheel should not spin more than one complete revolution if the brakes are adjusted properly. On the wheel that spins freely check the self-adjuster as it may be frozen in place and not allowing the brake to be adjusted on its own. It is too loose. The other side sounds like it might be too tight.

Ideally you should take the cassette out, clean the cup properly, put in as many bearings as they will fit in the circumference, and then take one out. That will be the correct number of bearings.
